thanks so much.

Bourbon reds are what I still have the most of. And my hens laid a bunch.

Boy I'm glad hen turkeys are good moms and take in stray poults.

I walked out to hen in pasture I thought got killed.

She still had her 3 poults. A couple of slate poults. And 3 spainsh black cross poults that I have never seen. So she is now running with 8 babies.

So she took in some from the hens that didn't make it. I couldn't find em but she did.

Question on how long a hen remains fertile after you remove the tom? I sold my slate blue Tom in November, he was in a pen with some hens that were narri/royal palm mixes and midget whites. There are also midget white toms and a pencilled palm tom in the pen.

The hens started laying early February and I hatched every egg they laid. The first poults have feathered out and I have a half dozen blue babies as well as other color combos. How can that be possible?

That is crazy! I would not have guessed it possible to be fertile that long!
I know for chickens it is around 2 weeks... but I have no idea for the turkeys. Obviously for at least 3 months!

Congratulations!!

Ok, so Turkey hen # 1 decided she didn't have enough eggs... Was on the nest night before last, off for a bit in the morning then back on all day yesterday went out at 3 pm and she was off, peeked inside and she now has 14 eggs so obviously still laying.. Went out at 8 last night and she was nowhere to be found, back in the box.. Out this morning but headed back to her box by the time I was finished with chores...ughhh... The oldest egg is now 9 days old, I know, I know.. Its on her timeline, but I was really hoping she would go ahead and start setting.. The off and on has me a bit worried yes, she is a yearling and at this point if the eggs are lost they are lost... Is her behavior typical of a nearly setting Turkey hen?

Sorry, newbie adult Turkey owner here, just hoping she will at least make a decent effort to hatch out a clutch.
