It's now official. All 6 of my hens are now laying. We got 6 eggs from the turkeys today. I can not possibly incubate them all so I may have to start selling hatching eggs on Craigslist or pennswoods.net or something.

I think they missed the memo about stating to lay in the spring But awesome for you when you want to hatch them! I wish I could buy some but need a broody hen before that can happen - I refuse to buy a bator If I get a broody hen, I'll be asking for some eggs if you still have some!

Wait! What guy Coffee? Is he Ralphie/ Judy approved too? Has he been turkey tested??

New guy isnt a farmer YET but i will teach him in no time.. My 1st choice was Ralphie BUT i wasn't in the running for Ralphie, the 5 acres wasn't big enough and i don't have money for a jet or even a new truck for that matter. And Judy already knows how to pluck a chicken and castrate a hog so i didn't have enough to offer...But maybe i will get rich somehow off of chickens and turkeys then i will put in another application...

The Toms ticked me off, several of them acted like Belly buttons.

They beat the crap out of me CX hens and Bert Jr today. This has never happened before. I think one of the hens will die.

If they do not sell, I will have 3 Toms next weekend.

JJ, Sidekick and Porter will be all I have left. BYW none of those three were involved in the muggings.

aww poor Bert and the hens... the flock will feel better when thinned.. and maybe it will be a good lesson to JJ,Sidekick and Porter to not do the same... hopefully it wont take long to bring Porter to his new home...

Coffee...please get Porter by himself first. He will really bond with you. Aurora & I both did that with turkeys that were last springs hatch. And both bonded & turned snuggly! Just wait till you get snuggled by a turkey!

I am going to try to talk Coffee into taking Porter for a month by herself. Besides I need the eggs from the hens for a while. If she has Porter alone for a month he will be a lapper for sure. Turkeys so crave attention from people when left alone.

Do you think JJ can handle 11 hens? Or will I need to use Sidekick or Porter for a while?


My hens are not laying thankfully. It is 7 degrees right now here, I need to check my Creamette eggs a couple times a day to keep them from freezing.

This night cannot get much worse, heading below zero, Hen is wounded, and I just emptied the schnapps and there is no more, It is Sunday night so no liquor store in Mn is open!


I wonder what Vodka with peppermint liqueur and cinnamon liqueur would taste like?
