A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Oh, cool....changed my mind....now I need a self blue

Ralphie has extra self blue hens and can make even more using Sidekick.

I did my final candling to my first set of turkey eggs. They'll officially be in lockdown tomorrow :) all 14 are still moving and grooving in there! And bonus, I got to see a perfect little turkey foot, plastered against the side of the egg with wiggling toes and all lol.

I also did the first official candling on my second set of eggs. 26 are bouncing around inside their eggs. I pulled 4 bloodrings/quitters and 7 clears. In my defense, they were sitting on the counter for almost 2 weeks.

OMG!!!! Aurora how cool that all turkey babies are jiving along! Love that you saw a big 'ole foot! That seems like a high hatch rate on the turkeys! I cannot wait to see baby poult pictures!

Feisty...ROAD TRIP!!

That or you get the incubator and eggs from Ralphie!! You need to post pics of the Bourbon Boys.

If you had a bourbon red to breed with a slate you would get 50% rusty slate for future calico turkey breeding

We keep telling you that you need a bourbon red!! This is why I want a slate hen, to go with my bourbon boys

Yes but if you breed a bourbon red with a self blue you get 100% rusty slates.

See the problem? It is like going to Baskin Robbins. How do I make up my mind?

I am thinking of keeping a Blue tom tonight. If I just use Sidekick I will get mainly self blues. The only one that will give me the blues is the blue hen, I would get 50% of hers as blues.

If I put a blue tom in with 3 self blues I get 50% of 4 hens as Blues. I personally like the blues better than the self blues. Which means I need another breeding pen.

Baskin and Robbins. Baskin and Robbins, Baskin and Robbins Baskin and Robbins...

what do I do...

Ralph - just get a bourbon red, will make pretty turkeys :) I think I'm working up to a road trip - I need a self blue hen (or two)!

Aurora - OMG, love that there's babies coming. Seeing a foot would have been so cool while candling!! We are eagerly awaiting hatching and pictures :pop

Spent some time feeding the bourbon crew some cabbage today and thought I should grab a few pics while I was out there. They are so gentle when picking things out of my hand. Pardon the ratty looking feathers, they haven't molted yet.

And then you must swing the snood just so while picking things up or you end up eating the snood lol.
