A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ralph...are you putting any other hens with JJ or just Ethel? I still think you need to find him a cute Bourbon Red....

Ralph...what up with the "sneaky underhanded woman"?

In the south, we call that a Three Handed Woman....right handed, left handed, and underhanded.

Who or what was the parents?

Did you run a calculator on them?
I have a pen of Mottled Blacks and Royal Palms. I think some of the MB's are mottled silver dappled (one copy of white gene - 'c', instead of homozygous for grey - 'cg').

Porter's site seems to be down right now and I don't know the URL of the calculator without going through his site. The poults are lighter than I remember the MB poults being, so I think they might be:

Bb1 cc nn
-- or --
BB cc nn

I'm not sure what the phenotype for those would look like.

I was cleaning of poop boards today and cleaning out the big garage brooder. As much as I love the silkies mothering the poults, there were too many in that brooder so I moved the biggest babies outside. Hopefully they stay warm enough. There's only 5 of them out there and it's a big brooder but I threw a blanket over half the top of it to try to trap some warmth in there.

So my hatch was a total success! 14 eggs went into lockdown. One was a suspected quitter then but u left it in. It was. Looked like a week or two ago it stopped. All 13 of the others hatched all on their own. Looks like 5 Bourbon reds and 8 red bronze. 2 or 3 of the Bourbon reds are very very blonde. And guess what! I got my nice camera working! So once I get the kids tucked in and my next eggs on lockdown, I'll try to get some good pictures up ;)

I might have goofed up, I thought this was 2 girls, the people I sold them to think it might be two boys. if it is I will get them a hen, but I feel bad about being wrong,,as I said on the surviving thread...

What do you think?
