A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Kevin is confusing me... First he said Mr. T was a Calico and now he says he is a Fall fire?? Turkeys confuse me.... If ge does happen to be a Fall fire I am going to have to find some Fall fire hens or poults...

Do fall fire breed true? I thought someone said "no" to that.

You could always order a dozen from Porters's and breed him to the poults next year, after his vacation in Sherburne county.

I think I will get two Royal palm hens. If I cross Mr. T over them I get 50% Sweetgrass (males and females) and 50% Fall fire (males and females).

I am not getting gens till next year or this fall. If u still want him to come visit he can. U can still get mottled from him, the rusty hen and a blue slate.

I can also get golden Narragansett's !

They are beautiful! We can divide them up later. I will make a pen for all of Mr T's offspring. We might have to split them up twice just to keep the numbers down in the pen as they get larger. With three hens we are looking at potentially 200 poults.. (or 4) depending on the hatch rates ..

I am going limit free ranging of babies this year, I am tired of feeding hawks, eagels, fox, coons etc.

Golden Narragansett! This is getting exciting.

Aurora, just checking on Pebbles. Did she break her broody after you gave her the boot?

I am a littke sad... I get an awful lot of bronze birds from my tom and the breeds available around here... I like him with blue and royal hens...

Nope. I made her sit on the roost last night before bed but she was back in the nest this morning lol. I just might give her a few chicken eggs since she's being so stubborn. At least they're a little more resilient.

Anyone ever have a poult aspirate fluid into its lungs? I have 1 that may have brooder pneumonia. I'm keeping it warm, hand feeding it little chunks of garlic here and there and have started a course of tylan 50 to try to help. I gave her a little bit of water earlier and I think she inhaled it. I swear, she looked like she was on deaths door for a good 20 minutes. Limp, weak and unable to even lift her head. She was breathing very hard and labored too. It's been about an hour since the incident now. I have her basically separated in a little basket in the brooder. She's still breathing and has a bit more strength when I touch her now. I'm just worried about her. She was supposed to go to her new home tomorrow but I contacted the lady and rescheduled for Saturday.I told her what happened. If she doesn't make it, I'll have more hatching on Friday so I'll still be able to give her her order. Has anyone ever had this happen and had the poult live (or chick). I'm nervous about giving her the next dose of tylan later on. I just shoot it down her throat the first time because I couldn't find a good place to inject it without risking hurting the poor thing. Now I'm terrified to even do that!
