I only had them a couple of months. Along with issues that need to be fixed. Chickens will not lay on eggs. . I have a disability . I will stop and start depending on what's around me and what's going on and my thought process. My phone only does so much also. It depends if I do from phone or computer . I'm having a little problem with the husband and need some opinions/advice. It seems the husband didn't hear the son and I when we were discussing getting the turkeys, that we wanted to go ahead and get some heritage turkeys along with the BBB. He really is hard of hearing so there is a chance he didn't actually hear us say it. Yesterday when I was breaking, no I mean reminding him, that we were getting heritage turkeys, he had some sort of seizure and said he didn't remember saying we could keep turkeys around all the time but rather raise them for meat and then butcher.....I tried the Ralph approach and got us a beer and tried to discuss it with him but he's not having it! Sooo.............I'm going to approach him about hatching some heritage turkey eggs (because it will be cheaper and I can get a smaller amount than poults) to see what size they will be at Thanksgiving and which one taste better. The eggs should hatch about the time the poults arrive if I order them within the next day or two. The plan is he'll see how friendly and neat it is to have heritage turkeys that he will let us keep them. He loves my chickens. If not, I guess we'll have to do the taste test. Do you think my plan will work?

Sounds like a great strategy! You can also try the comparison at butcher time - the BB will be much bigger than the heritage, which should allow you to convince him that they need longer to grow out. When they get older, you can always say that they are too old to butcher - they'll be tough eating.....that's my plan :).

We have had a lovely stretch of sunny weather - wonderful and warm! It's supposed to start raining again tomorrow, but it was lovely while it lasted :). The girls favorite summer dirt bath reached optimal dryness and warmth this afternoon (for the first time this year). I have never heard such a chorus of happy chirps. It was a great afternoon with the birds. I had to take pictures because they were just so darn cute! And now I'll plague you with my poultry pics :lau

Synchronized bowl bathing.....

And watching DH "weeding with chickens" was equally entertaining....EVERYTHING coming out of the ground needed a thorough inspection. Good thing we weren't in a hurry lol.

It was warm here in northeast Missouri today too but boy was it windy! It was entertaining to watch the chickens trying to walk in it.
