Great baby pictures!!! Bantambird!

You too JR.

I took a couple yesterday, I did not have my camera during the best two...

The one little poult was snuggling up to Sidekick last night. Sidekick lifted his wing and the poult crawled under. Then it came out and went up on Sidekicks back and sat on it. Sidekick seems to enjoy the poult. He chased the dog yesterday when it got to close to the poult. I was worried how the Tom would accept the poults, it does not seem to be a problem this year.

At one point I had 3 poults walking in the middle of three toms and no hens anywhere around. I did go in and get the camera to show a picture of a young Bellybutton roosting with sidekick. I had to lighten the pictures as it was getting fairly dark. I did not let the poult spend the night with Sidekick.

I took this earlier in the day, please forgive the junk lying around. It is driving me crazy and I want to mow and pick up, but as long as I have free ranging babies I need to keep the junk and tall weeds for their protection....

LOVE the pictures! Just wonderful!

I'm impressed with Sidekick! Maybe hes got his own little sidekick in training . Pretty cool! OR....maybe he knows its a girl & is getting a headstart on his own harem! ;)

Memphis: got a lot of rain. Little over 9 inches. My palms are just flighty.

All the poult pics are cute.

Ralphie: in the last pic is that a visual learning aid for the poult. Telling him it's a trap. :lau

I have 3 hens on hidden nests. Found one last night under a trailer. Have not found or seen the others for a few days. But have not seen a feather trail either.so hoping they are still good.

Have hatched 6 poults in the last week. 2 tri mottled blue slates.
1 tri mottled black.
3 red bronzes.

10 turkey eggs left in incubator.
But have 250 quail eggs cooking.

Lost 2 of my older poults to unknown causes. Fine then dead.

My Bourbon hen with babies is evil to everything in the pen but me. When she gets out she's tries to chase and destroy almost any bird she can that's in the pen. Pure evil.

Hidden nest have hot epidemic levels here. I know one turkey hen has one south of the buildings at least 500 yards I saw her coming back from it..

I am getting 5-6 eggs a day from 22 layers. Something is amiss, either they are trying to get a seat on the camp bus or they are hiding nests.

The trap was recently used to catch a rabbit... It is there to help teach a cat how to swim in a diving bell, if I ever get it into the trap.. It was in once last winter and I thought I had scared it enough to never return. I was wrong...Next time I shall not be.

I am also a tad worried I have a coon in the area. I have a crippled chick that has volunteered to be bait for the coon.

Hello all!! Just thought I would check in and see how you all were doing!?

Ralph we have a coon problem too. Last night I noticed something walk pass the sliding door so I got up and every time the lightning flashed I saw something. So I turned on the outside light and sure enough! There was a momma coon and three babies! So I knocked on the window trying to scare them away and they wouldnt leave. So I got my grandpa and he grabbed his hand gun and had some target practice. They shouldnt be bugging anymore...

OH and I hear alot of cheeping coming from under two of the broodies! I will check tomorrow and let u know how many I have so far!

Hey Holm! Sounds like your enjoying your summer....love to hear you have some "good" coons!:D

Cant wait to see what peeping!

Ralph my poults are about the size of yours and smaller. I put the 5 youngest ones with the two older ones earlier. I was very suprised to see one of the older ones go into full display. They are going to be beautiful when they get grown.

OK... Ralphie I had a no no moment... I kept hearing cheeping under my broodies and my curiosity got the best of me... So I looked... 6 pearls under one hen and a white and pearl under another! I went from zero this morning to 8 this evening! One hens nest is about done. She only has 3 left to hatch and they r pipped! But one nest hasnt even started?! Pics tomorrow when I move the one hen to her nursery.
