Cut up some short pieces of grass (1/8" to 1/4") and drop them into the brooder that has poults in it and you will get to watch turkeys playing keep away.I have never seen the turkeys play keep away, that would be cool.
I lost the nest the two hens and Sidekick were sitting on last night. The birds were all off and safe, the turkey eggs are gone, but there are some chicken eggs in there. Some are broken open. I found a pile of poop the other day that appeared to be buried by a cat family member. The poop was between a quarter or a half dollar piece and about 3 inches long. The scratch marks are about 2 feet around. It is a big pile.
I am thinking I have a lynx or bobcat here. I am not sure a cat would eat eggs. The turkeys were all safe, but nervous this morning. It is trail cam time again. I may have to do some serious trapping. Luckily I locked up the hen with the 2 chicks in Lizzies cage last night.
I hate predators!
Guaranteed that cats will eat eggs.
