My last turkey to hatch for the year. Was hatched when I got home from work.

I do have 1 broody that was hidden I found her got her in a pen secure now. She's is on 8 eggs. But with the heat we are having bet they don't hatch.

This is what I've been hatching. Baby quail. In the last week have hatched out 25 a week ago. And 72 yesterday.

Have 80 more eggs in the bators then I'm putting them up for the season.

Memphis: how is the arm getting along?

Hey Feedman....those quail are so darn cute. What will you do with them all?

Arm is getting there. Went to the surgeon Friday...4 week check up. Apparently the elbow is the first joint to freeze. So he told me i dont have to wear my brace. Still limited with what i can do, but the reasoning is to bend it as much as possible. Guess with three plates & untold screws it wont come apart. But i didn't realize that he had to cut through a muscle in the back of my arm to access the breaks. So i cant push anything yet. Its kind of weird, sort of floppy. The scar is nasty. Oh well....ill get through it! Sorry if i grossed anyone out...

Glad to hear the arm is getting better.

Most of the quail are destined for the freezer. It only takes them 6 weeks from hatch til they are ready to butcher. They will start laying at 8 weeks.

I cooked a dozen up for 4th of July meal at work. They are darn good eating.

Ready to start our next great adventure! We honestly probably won't have any bees til next spring unless a swarm moves in but we're still excited :) The guy that we got them off of was very nice and explained a lot to us about keeping them and caring for them. This should be really cool :)

Memphis-Glad the arm is coming along. Hopefully it'll be back to normal before you know it! Nobody warned me about the elbow thing when I was younger and had my cast removed. 6 weeks in the cast and the first thing I did was straighten my arm. That was the sharpest pain ever!

Coffee-that's awesome that Peter is so protective!

Gravy has started strutting. It's the cutest thing seeing him do it. However he seems to sense when I get the camera out to take a picture because he immediately stops.

Aurora, congrats on the bees! Or at least getting set up for them. That's something I'd like to do at some point in the future.
