A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

This is the one we think is a hen. She has much lighter color on her body. The bump on her nose is smaller than the other one.

REALLY!! Wow we thought for sure the darker colored one was a tom. We aren't sure what breed they are. We were told when we bought them they were rio grande but they look completely different than each other. Guess maybe one is rio and one isn't. Well guess we might start looking for a ton about their age then. Any guesses on what breed they might be?

Stephcraig- Finne might be on to something, the lighter one could be Narragansett. http://www.porterturkeys.com/narragansett.htm is a good place for pictures of this breed. Actually it's a great website period....makes us want all kinds of different colored turkeys :lau

http://www.pbase.com/image/58974033 Found a decent pic of a rio grande hen, and it's definitely darker than the Narragansett. Might help you with ID of your pair :).

I was doing some searching myself and yeah I can see the similarities in the Narragansett feathering. Guess a rio grande is more or less a wild turkey variety? Really thinking the darker one is similar to the color and pattern though. Do you know about what age they start getting a beard if they are male?
