I'm suddenly grateful for my desert, where the chickens need ice packs to survive the day just a couple weeks out of the year!

The high temperature isn't the problem,it's the smothering wet blanket from the humidity.

It's problematic Holm, I hate triple digit heat and high humidity I also dislike fluffy water(snow) Cold weather,above 25f I love

JR - you sound like me lol! So far I'm liking the PNW - very infrequent "fluffy water" and no triple digit heat . I threw out my winter parka when I moved here and have no intention of ever needing one again. Ralph and Holm.... I do not envy your winters *shudder*.

Winter is a forbidden word here in our house. Even fall is dangerous to mention. Hubby and the kids were trading me today, pointing out the few leaves that have started to change. I HATE being cold! Especially on those bitter below 0 days

I think the coldest its ever been around here was in the low teens (with windchill lower) as long as its not a wet cold I LOVE it. Snow equals wet which equals hate

Snow means it has warmed up enough to snow, so I like it..



I just came in from an egg collecting run, I did a quick head count on turkey, I only have 8 again......I wonder what that one is up too tonight...


BTW it is late enough in the day they thought I was bringing them their treat so I had 8 thundering turkeys doing the dinosaur stampede. That dinosaur run never gets old to watch.

Same here but I have had some broken eggs so I thought I would see if I could find out who is breaking them...

BTW I have a coop full of loafers. The lazy freeloaders gave me 8 eggs today, I have 85 birds in the coop and 45 of them are suppose to be laying!

Ralph - I hope you checked behind you before you stopped counting tonight . That dinosaur run is pretty awesome, I have to agree. Must confess that I'll toss fruit across the yard to watch the turkeys run after it
