A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I guess you already know my secret. I'm called Bantambird not because I have bantams, but because I am bantam sized. It's my handle on a lot of places, makes me giggle when I used to play video games online and get asked what a Bantambird is. But yeah, get used lick tubs. Perfect sized turkey bath tubs.

I think if that was done for mine I would have naked birds and it would be considered faking. Which gets you disqualified.

BantamBird you would be more than welcome but your about half the size of sidekick!!!

Maybe Blue will look forward to a bath next year.

I am on my last day of bird baths tomorrow. My system is bottlenecked at the drying stage.

Okay, that's what I figured.

one of the babies I hatched from my royal palm tom and bronze female

Apparently your Royal Palm tom and or your Bronze hen either weren't pure, were misidentified or were carrying hidden recessive color genes. According to Porter's Turkey Color calculator the only possible results of a Royal Palm tom and a Bronze hen are Narragansett Semi-Color Semi-Gray hens and Bronze Semi-Color Semi-Gray toms.

That is definitely not a Bronze Semi-Color Semi-Gray tom.

ooh, a color genetics mystery! These always fascinate me, and it's the reason I got sucked into all these birds I have in the first place. (I have a basement full of caged birds, too, btw.)

I hope you will post more pictures, and we can try to figure out what the parents and the children are. My first guess on this photo was Royal Palm hen, but then I read what you wrote. And I was about to plug the parents into Porter's calculator, but R2Elk already did it. :)

Fiesty was it you that mentioned the blow dryer?

I use one on every bird. the weird thing is the birds seem to like the warm air blowing on them. I only had one bird freak out. Captain AngryFace took exception to the entire process. but he does not like me much anyways. I am kind of worried he might rip the judges eyeballs out this weekend. He seems to be anti social. However, he looks good. I think he is a Diva of some kind the way he hates everyone but himself.

Blow driers are a godsend during prepping for shows for every species, I've found. Hope everyone does well this weekend! :) Were taking a trip up to Inverness for the Sunshine classic, so it seems the county is in full swing for shows!

It was me that mentioned the blow dryer! I have used it on chickens and they love it - but I figured that turkeys would take exception - just to be contrary :gig. I should try it on my turkeys - the bourbon boys would probably do well with it!

Can't wait to hear how the show goes, hopefully no eyeball-scratching from Captain AngryFace :)

Yippy yea coyote......just got confirmation that I not only have one tom I have two like you said only toms gobble had strangers to the birds today and they all got nervous one is thirteen weeks and one is ten weeks I am going to celebrate.......and my fingers are crossed that everyone who is in a show this weekend wins
