A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Thanks Kathy. Anyone going to participate? Any one got anybody laying yet?

Daisy did another fly by today. Weid when something catches your eye and you find yourself eye to eye with your turkey as she flies by your head. But I figured out something! She did this while i was blowing leaves. She's not a fan of the leaf blower. And this is the second time she's done this while I was blowing leaves.

I jumped in to the hatch a long (shocking huh lol). My girls really aren't laying but I have silkie/showgirl eggs coming next week lol

I think they're close but I keep checking the nests and there's never anything there. I know once they start, I'm going to have way more eggs than I know what to do with. Most of the girls are squatting now so it can't be long.

Fiesty, I am starting to get concerned. I am already to head to New Zealand with you, but my tickets have not gotten here yet.  Did you send them yet?  They are first class aren't they?  It could get cramped in coach on that long of a flight?

Do I need tanning lotion or will they have some there?   Do they have coffee there?  You can never tell when traveling to these far away places what they have and don't have?  Do I have to bring my own Pickled Herring and Lutefisk?  Is it available locally?

I am so happy to have you giving me this all expense paid trip to New Zealand. I never thought I would visit there.

Lol Ralph - I can't believe I didn't check the forum this morning - this would have made my morning!! I do not know what has happened to your ticket to New Zealand - I am certain it was put in the mail and is on it's way :). We're a good Scandinavian family, so I'm sure that Lutefisk will be on-hand for you :sick Better make sure that you pack some coffee though.... you are a confirmed coffee snob who may not adjust well to foreign coffee ;)

LOL! I should have known! Any turkeys laying yet? Keep thinking Daisy might be close.

Coco gave me another egg today - she's not stopped yet from last season. She's been giving me one every 2-5 days depending on her mood. They don't have supplemental light, so I'm not sure why she's still laying  Big Bird isn't squatting yet so maybe she'll wait until January like last year?

How do you people get eggs this time of year?

I have put a light out in the turkey pen and am giving them 14-15 hour days and no one is even thinking about laying. Even my layers have stopped laying. If I did not have pullets I would be buying eggs!

Well I'd like Coco to stop laying and get on with molting - but she apparently has other plans. I have visions of potentially chilly turkey hen if her body catches up and she blows all her feathers in January  My girls are only getting about 10 hours of daylight right now, and only the babies are laying right now amongst my chickens.

Same here. I am only getting pullet eggs. My Cream Legbar pullet started laying a while back and then quit. I was bummed about it. Then the other night I found this:
400

Sheesh!
