A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

he will be 2 in the spring.im sure with work he could be a lapper
Wow he's handsome Feedman. How old is he? My girls would swoon.

I really need to decide on if I want a tom. Worried that I only have the two girls. If they were all like JJ I'd take one in a second.

I just went out to give my birds their scratch grains before dark and found Cinnamon, my 6 mo old jake mounting the dead body of my jenny Cornbread.

I feel like blaming him, but I'm sure it probably wasn't his fault. I don't know. Can a tom crush a hen to death? I checked her all over and found no wounds or plucked patches. They've all been huddling up a lot against the cold lately, but if she was sick, it wasn't obvious. Man, I hate the downside of bird keeping. :(

his dad was a bronze over blue slate. mom bourbon red.

I've been calling him a blue red bronze. not to good on doing the porter calculator.

Bronze over Blue Slate will produce either a Barred Black (split to Bronze)

or a Barred Slate (split to Bronze)

The Barred Black over a Bourbon Red will not produce anything like your current tom.

The Barred Slate over a Bourbon Red can among other colors produce Rusty Slates and Blu Red Bronzes.

I have to agree with Ralph in that I think your tom looks more like a Rusty Slate than a Blue Red Bronze.

Sorry for your loss. I have never had a tom kill a hen by crushing her. I have had hens have their sides ripped open by unwanted breeding attempts. Those wounds are easy to spot. On the other hand, if a young tom finds a dead hen, he will definitely mount her.

A young Tom will mount an upside dish.

R2elk I was not sure of that Tom, He looks a little more red than JJ but not enough to rule out being a rusty slate. That's why I asked, Glad you agreed he could be a young JJ.
