A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

And last thing I wanted to share a pic of our house sparrow. We found her as a fledgling this past summer and managed to raise her to adulthood. She is semi tame. Stays in a big bird cage at night but free roams in house during day. She loves to sit in our shoulders and buzz by the kids heads. She doesn't bite or act wild really. Just a sweet little bird! First wild bird I've managed to nurse back to health and keep alive. Usually they are too fragile when found as babies fallen from their nests. She is happy and healthy.

That's awesome :) Last summer, after a Stormy night, we found a fledgling robin stuck on the ground. She was too tiny to fly still and the nest was destroyed. We brought her in and raised her up (found her hatch mate dead the next day in the yard). She was such a sweet birdn and loved to fly in to everyone's hair lol. "Baby bird" stayed in the house until she was able to find food for herself. She got lose once but came back in the evening but the second time we released her she flew away. She would still answer me if I'd call for her and the last time i saw her, she had found a mate. It was like she was showing me that she was fine :)

Wow that's very cool. I think we imprinted to much on this little girl and she won't even leave the living room and our bedroom where her cage is. We thought about trying to release her but she seems a bit to tamed to do it and feel good about her survival. Her parents still nest in our shop where she was found. During warm weather we hang her cage out side and she loves to talk to the wild birds and we plan to have a second cage in the shop come spring so she can talk to her family. Found a starling fledgling as well but it didn't survive to flying age.

Apparently, Adam is not too thrilled that Romeo has been permitted to free range with his own ladies lately. First thing this morning, before I went to let Romeo out, I happened to look out the window, and there was Adam, in the middle of the yard, strutting his stuff! Somehow, he managed to heft his big butt up and over the fence because there were no gaps or holes that he could've wiggled through. I caught him and put him back and left Romeo out but the whole time I was carrying him back in, he was threatening me and fussing. He is a miserable bird!

I've been molesting Big Red Tom when I put them to bed at night. Boy does he turn colors of unhappy! But he is becoming more submissive every time. Now, I can pet his head and he doesn't try to bite me anymore. He's becoming more tolerant than lurkey now. Do you think I can train him to accept my son too, if I bring my boy out when I am harassing the Tom?

Are you getting his head to turn Blue or white?

I think you could, the trick will be getting your son to not "harass" the turkey and make him react. The turkey needs to know he is below all humans on the pecking order.

I'm bummed about Adam. But I agree....no need to keep him if its a problem. Bet Romeo thinks Christmas came early!! ;)
