A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Yeah that's pretty close to how it looked. She had the turkey egg, one of her own eggs, plus a couple buff orp eggs. She was trying her best to keep them all tucked under her but a couple were sticking out. I was wondering if you all have ever had one of your hens manage to call in a wild tom? My two girls have been clucking loudly every time they are out of the pen. We have woods behind our place but I've never seen any turkeys roaming back there. We do however live in a very rural area and turkeys are very common. Just curious if that's what they are trying to do.

I don't know if they called them in but last spring did have a wild tom and 2 hens mingle with my birds for a couple days.

My boys did their best to impress the wild hens. Don't know if they succeeded or not.

But I did have a hen show up a few months ago. that looks eastern but has red undertones. red bronze is what we figured when I posted a pic of her. I didn't save any dark poults but with the mating I had all dark poults would have been male.

I can get within 20 feet of her now. She doesn't leave but she can. She is one of the only birds I have that will roost in the top of a tree. the rest roost on fence rail or top of chicken coop

Thanks Memphis!

The wild turkeys comeout in the hayfield by the coop and gobble and call at Mr. T and Mable.

Mr. T is gobbling and Strutting ALOT. Spring must be coming early?:fl

Holm, how is Mable doing? When are you getting the hens from Ralphie? I can't wait to see what Mr. T produces!

So...does all poultry, live or eggs, have to come from a NPIP certified establishment to be transported over state lines? Or can you get some kind of vet health certificate? Or does it depend on each state? Just curious how that works.

Memphis she is just fine. I was just gettimg ready to talk to him about that! lol

I have sold lots to ppl from ND... oops... I guess I didnt know there was a law...
