Ralphie I always send people here when asked that question. Still on my quest to find the right breeds, but going for RHW next.http://livestockconservancy.org/index.php/heritage/internal/conservation-priority-list#ChickensI need to get to work, but I have been searching for a new chicken breed, I know this is a turkey thread, but as the OP I can talk about whatever I want!!!! (Stalin reincarnated).....
Anyone have a suggestion for a dark egg laying breed that does not have a single comb, and is APA recognized?
I have the cuckoo marans that are not APA and lay eggs once in a great while and have single combs...They are leaving me on Thursday, So I need other suggestions for next year. Also if you know a good breeder with good stock that is NPIP that would help too..
It would also get me out of the house and to work, which would make Judy very happy today..
Nice! XD What did they ducktape your mouth, wallet, and hands? So proud of myself today.....made it in and out of TSC without anything that cheeps, peeps or quacksI'm usually banned from feed stores until after baby season is done!![]()
Another good one is http://www.spnusa.com/ They are a bit more picky and generally approach from two directions: 1) do you want to join the network, in which case you get a mentor and solid breed stock, but with rules. and 2) you can generally buy birds that don't meet the breeding criteria. I could be wrong but that's what I've gotten from their website. If you find something interesting out there I can introduce you to someone in the network who will KNOW the real deal vice my interpretation.I always like finding NEW chicken sites!ⁿ![]()
