Ralphie don't feel bad for her, feel bad for me... The weather service is forecasting snow for just north of me this weekend. everytime we've had this fight I've lost. More importantly, I have to go to philli this weekend, in the snow storm. ARG!I am feeling so darn bad for you and your slow leafing Pecans!
You don't have to sue them. They are so used to this that you just have to file a claim. Whether or not they feel like paying it may be a different story. If they do decide to pay the claim, don't expect payment anytime soon.I have had a Royal Palm hen inspecting a "tub" I put in the coop for them as a nest. The Royal Palms live with the colored legbars. The legbars seem to enjoy the tub more than their nest boxes too.
This evening when I went to gather eggs in the freezing temps and 40 MPH winds, freezing my knuckles and ears, the one RP hen was in the tub. She looked like she was laying an egg. I got semi-close before I noticed her. She gave me NASTY stink eye. I turned and walked away. I am hoping for my first RP egg tonight!
BTW I have re-discovered the further along an egg is the less damage lack of electricity does to it. Last week my hatch was ok. The tornado and outage were about 2 weeks ago. The eggs that were suppose to hatch Thursday are not in good shape. When I candled some of the eggs stopped at the first outage, but the majority seem to have stopped at the second outage 4 days later. I did not candle next weeks eggs. To see if they were affected.
I wonder if I should sue the power company.......Naw they got better lawyers than I could afford.

RE: egg storage for CHICKENS ONLY I have only done this with chickens, never did the ducks or pheasants or anything so not sure.
Most times I store just as you stated, but instead of a bag I have a cooler I use now, pointed end up in a styro carton, never paper, never washed, I have a wide mason jar in the cooler with the lid off. No fans notta in the cooler, just cartons of eggs and the mason jar of water I rarely have to fill up, in a cool dark closet downstairs. And yes the abstract links etc are in the article. I have kept eggs for over a month and although I may see a few early DIS its well worth trying if you cant or dont want to set every week!
