A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I have green grass and brown grass. The crocuses are blooming and the currants are leafed out. The elm trees are blooming also. Oh yeah the roses are sending out new growth.

I had to pour boiling water in a divit in the ground to set some anchors 18 inches deep. The frost was out all the way to 1/2 inch.

I have brown grass, where the snow drifts aren't covering the grass. Not sure what color the grass is under the snow....

I am feeling so darn bad for you and your slow leafing Pecans!

Ralphie don't feel bad for her, feel bad for me... The weather service is forecasting snow for just north of me this weekend. everytime we've had this fight I've lost. More importantly, I have to go to philli this weekend, in the snow storm. ARG!

I have had a Royal Palm hen inspecting a "tub" I put in the coop for them as a nest. The Royal Palms live with the colored legbars. The legbars seem to enjoy the tub more than their nest boxes too.

This evening when I went to gather eggs in the freezing temps and 40 MPH winds, freezing my knuckles and ears, the one RP hen was in the tub. She looked like she was laying an egg. I got semi-close before I noticed her. She gave me NASTY stink eye. I turned and walked away. I am hoping for my first RP egg tonight!

BTW I have re-discovered the further along an egg is the less damage lack of electricity does to it. Last week my hatch was ok. The tornado and outage were about 2 weeks ago. The eggs that were suppose to hatch Thursday are not in good shape. When I candled some of the eggs stopped at the first outage, but the majority seem to have stopped at the second outage 4 days later. I did not candle next weeks eggs. To see if they were affected.

I wonder if I should sue the power company.......Naw they got better lawyers than I could afford.

You don't have to sue them. They are so used to this that you just have to file a claim. Whether or not they feel like paying it may be a different story. If they do decide to pay the claim, don't expect payment anytime soon.

Well good. I wasn't sure if this person was serious not. But was totally annoying.

Boy my turkeys are living the life. I took off at noon to come home & groom dogs for a show this weekend. They grazed, they sunbathed, they dust bathed, they waded around in "Poop Pond" then repeated all. I worked on one dog for over three hours (poor girl) and was keeping an eye on them. Nothing but happy chirps. Yep, they had a quite enjoyable day. I should be so lucky as to spend a day like that!

Annie is laying regularly, nothing from Daisy yet. And geez, I can't walk through my yard with out chickens sqatting everywhere. Life in the convent is wearing on them...poor girls!

Ralphie my turkeys hens have gone from avoiding me to following me around in the run when I am out so they are starting to like me!

Quote: Hi Bob! Hope things are well with you! I have purchased the most amazingly friendly burbons ever! Cant believe that I have never grown any out that I hatched!

RE: egg storage for CHICKENS ONLY I have only done this with chickens, never did the ducks or pheasants or anything so not sure.
Most times I store just as you stated, but instead of a bag I have a cooler I use now, pointed end up in a styro carton, never paper, never washed, I have a wide mason jar in the cooler with the lid off. No fans notta in the cooler, just cartons of eggs and the mason jar of water I rarely have to fill up, in a cool dark closet downstairs. And yes the abstract links etc are in the article. I have kept eggs for over a month and although I may see a few early DIS its well worth trying if you cant or dont want to set every week!
