Lol, I would have done the same thing

I never throw anything out for a couple days. I candle when I move them to the hatcher. ( Which is the only time I candle) I know they are not clear, or ring of death eggs then, so a few days in the hatcher is not going to hurt anything.

Ralph, I've been following your lead... Eggs in the bator on Thursday, go into lock-down on Tuesday, Hatched go to brooder on Friday, and leave the rest in until Sunday. I like to clean and disinfect on Monday and next batch goes in on Tuesday.

I'm really thinking it was a combination of humidity and temp that brought the little one back. It was 99% humidity outside this morning and I know the compost bin is hot, well over 100 degrees. Last night I had a drop in humidity in the bator (bottom shelf is hatcher)--just maybe it was just too dry for it to finish hatching. Tell me if I'm off on my schedule....

folks,

I'd like a second opinion. Forgive the mess in my barn, but this new visitor is interesting. Crisis of conscious I guess... I know that I have a rat in the barn, I've armor plated my brooder in the barn against said rat, who is still too smart for me to catch or kill. That said, I found this guy in the barn and he's still there. I vote for Rat Snake--but would defer to more expert opinions than mine. Problem is: Rat Snake (aka Chicken Snake) is a threat to my brooder. I don't think he can get in and am hoping he removes the rat--but watching closely. Looking for your thoughts on this guy.
