We took my son out to eat for his birthday. As soon as i stepped out of the truck the BB's came running and followed me all the way to the doorstep. For the life of me l can't figure out how turkeys ever got the reputation of being dumb birds. They are super curious and don't miss anything new in the yard

I agree. They are so inquisitive and curious, that I would think they would know everything about their environment. I was watching the poults after I moved them to the brooder, and within minutes, they had explored every corner of it and pecked at everything in sight. Found the nipple drinkers and the different feeders. It made me wonder why they even need mentors.

Unfortunately, I have to move my poults. The 6' x 3' cage isn't large enough for them anymore, they make too much of a mess. I have a room where they can be moved to, except it has chickens in it. If I move them to the room with chickens and can make a partitioning for the turkeys and chickens, how dangerous is it for the turkeys? The chickens are 3 months while turkeys are 3 weeks. I would do the magic water for the turkeys and they're already on fermented feed, they've also been giving grass and weeds to strengthen immune system. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Grown roosters can be dangerous to the poults ( IMO ) they think they are hens and try to mate .

I've got some about the same age running together. The only ones that cause problems are the Grown chickens

If you have a wire partition between them for a while at first so they can get used to each other without mingling, then I wouldn't think it would be dangerous for your turkeys at all. After they are used to each other's presence, you can open the divider up so they can mingle and meet, and see how it goes. Expect some pecking order to be established, but usually if they have met through the wire for a while, they accept each other pretty well when it's time to meet face to face.

She said her chickens were 3 months old, so what, about 12 weeks? No grown ones to worry about I guess.

I know someone who has a hen that is at least 3 years old... I can't remember for sure though, she might be older...
