A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Figures its the Speckled Sussex so insistent up on helping! Cute story R2elk. I'm still brooding my two new SS babies. Spot & Dot. I'm hoping to set up one of my dog excessive pens today & expose them to the rest of the flock. They are almost ready to move outside. Just a few feathers to go. No idea of what to expect witth the turkeys. They pretty much ignore the chickens.

@Finnie Gorgeous birds!

Thank you all for the help. I will be back asking again about my MWs, although two are not pure, but they have beautiful black speckling.

Here's another question for the experts, since I am still very new to turkeys. How do I know if my Tom is too fat? He is about 2 years old or so. He is in the first pic of the bourbon red that I had posted. He acts normal and seems happy, but his chest is very big, and swings when he walks. He free ranges all day with the rest of the flock, and he is probably getting more exercise, now that he has young poults to chase after. Is this normal for an adult tom? It's funny to see his chest wobble when he runs, but I want him to be healthy.

Look at this poor girl! What hard molt is having. She is a Bielefelder, so she normally would like nice and fluffy. You guys are in trouble now, I have finally figured out how to upload photos from my phone...

Regarding the dog thing, the turkeys never were really around the dogs. Once my aggressive dog did lunge at their brooder and scared them all (he was on leash) but they never had dogs walking by or shown them to be ok. It's ok, this group probably won't be free ranging much since they don't seem to fear anything. Going to build them a large secure pen anyway.

This sounds like you are witnessing his air sac fully inflated. If you catch him and fpat on it with the flat of your hand you will here a drumming sound. His beast is father back and will feel firm to you.
