A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

And the weatherman lied again. Kept waiting for our low 40's....never got past 34. Dang it.

It got up to 45°F today and is still 40°F right now. The low for the day was 17°F at 3:14 AM.

Yesterday never got above about 5° here. I knew it was going to be cold. My problem is that I thought it was supposed to be warmer when we woke up this morning....this is the coldest it's been here! Weather app says -6!

Temp hit 30 here today. Supposed to be 40s next week.

Calling for freezing sleet and snow chance tonight into tomorrow.

Teams playoff run. The curse continues.

Set my first eggs of the season tonight 500 quail.

We are supposedly going to get freezing rain and stuff tomorrow and heard a rumor of 50s layer this week but I'll believe that when I see it lol

What kind of quail do you have? Would you mind paying worth a dozen lol

My little injured quail, Buddy, is improving every day. The last couple times that I pulled him out to feed him, his crop was already full. He's been learning the layout of the brooder and where the food and water are. He still can't see. I'm still hoping that as he heals, he'll be able to open his eyes again.

I've heard quail can make interesting pets. I'd love to try it...but....Honestly don't need a bird running around pooping in my house....but they are cuties!

I also think some of the parrots are cool. My mother had one that was a jerk to us kids. Kind of soured me on house birds. It exemplified the term "Turd Bird".

Freezing rain/ice is the worst. That's what we usually get. Hope you guys don't get ice!

Sure am hoping for warmer weather today. Want to spend time outside. Garden chores & hen hugs....

In this batch I just set.

Tennessee reds, white, snowflake, butler bobwhites, and Texas & m cotournix.

Feedman....my baker friend who buys my turkey eggs was asking if I knew a local source for quail eggs. A chef friend of hers wants to add them to his menu. He's having trouble finding locally sourced quail eggs. Seems anything besides a chicken or duck egg is hard to consistently source here.

OH MY GOSH!!!

You're a southerner! I never knew that.

No wonder the cook book recipes are so good. You live somewhere Ketchup is not the major spice used.
Nope, not a southerner. We are just going through our normal January thaw that is usually followed by sub zero temperatures to make sure the trees get killed.

Ketchup is the major spice used in the Baked Lima Beans.

We are at 22 right now so that is a heat wave!

We use ketchup as the major spice in:

Baked Beans
Meatloaf
Hot dishes of all varieties
Milk flavoring for that homemade strawberry flavored milk
Chocolate chip cookies
Rice Krispy bars
Stuffed peppers
baked fish
Roast turkey
fried chicken
potato dishes
rice dishes

The list is endless....of course.. I might have exaggerated a tad, as my Mother was not the worlds best or most creative cook....
