A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

What breed do you have? Do you coop them at night and do they go fairly easily? Can they fly enough to get to the water away flom a predator? Where we want to put them they have bout an acre pond/old lagoon and lossa grass and duckweed to eat. I know we will have to feed em too though.

Ok so far I have 4 turkeys out 2 black 2 brown

The only problem with that is I live in a neighborhood in CA. I'm moving them to a friend's pasture once they get big enough. So he is more than welcome to keep a breeding pair but I doubt my neighbors would like to see a turkey in their yards. Haha. I do have a 6 ft fence around my yard but I heard that's nothing for a turkey even with its wings clipped. So unfortunately me keeping them is not in the cards while we're at this house.
turkey lovin'

Candled turkey eggs under the hens... got bout fifteen lil buggars movin round in their eggs. Only one i wasnt sure of that was under them. However. :/. I think road runner layed bout five more eggs after she decided she might wanna or might not wanna be broody....(i know they are hers cause they all the same and a darker egg with big red brown speckles and the sg lays a very light egg with lossa tinny brown speckles) so there are some eggs not as far along as others. Guess i will get the bator ready in a few days and just hope one of the girls stays sittin when most of the hatch happens so i dont have use it lol!

Road runner has been goofy bein broody... she hisses and fluffs up and pecks at us but every three days or so she is off that nest for the better part of the day then goes back bout dark in the evenin. The sg on the other hand is def in keel everything mode and has only come off it to do the broody poop three times. And even then she hasnt left the area we have blocked off for them. They are both fliers and we just put a three or four ft cattle panel up to separate cause jerkface thanksgivin doesnt fly and only jumps that high when he comes in contact with somethin like a boot or pitchfork. She goes maybe five steps away does the deed and is back on it. We did put their food and water within neck reach and someone is eatin a tinny bit.

And i think myrtle the bronze is tryin be broody too.... we only gettin one turkey egg a day for the last six days.. myrtle and the rp are the only non broodies we have right now.. and i know the dif between their eggs. :(. She does go eetin bugs of the mornin but at her normal nest time she stays in it after that and wants to spend the night on it. She isnt bein fluffy or hissy at us when we make her go to bed though. And she is actin normal and not like she strainin tryin make business of an egg and cant. Her poops are normal for her too and we have seen her eat and drink as well.so i dunno.

One of my hens was trying to brood only 2 eggs, up in the poop hammock... she drug the eggs through the overnight poop I had yet to scoop and was laying flat across them panting (random 80 degree day)... I took the eggs and kicked her off and once she saw green grass she forgot all about her precious babies, lol.

There’s a reason I bought the incubator. :th
