A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

evening all :frow

I've got a couple more weeks and will be thrilled when everyone is back out on pasture, not that they stay in it during the day, but I need to get them back outside.

There's a really good video post out here on BYC about bear protection... There are two posts #4 and #9 that have really good info. For smaller furry creatures I use Premier 1 feather net with a one joule solar charger and for my tractors I use three hot wires and a .1 joule solar charger. I don't have to deal with bears or big cats just yet, but If I do, horse rope will become my go to wire.
which chargers do you have? on how many nets?
I have Solar IntelliShock® 120 on 5 nets
Looking to get another solar fencer for hot wires on the field fencing.

When my girls come out of their pen, Daisy always flaps & does a little dance. Sorta cute. Mine free range...but are still so happy to get out in the mornings.

Had to physically pull my coonhound off a tree this morning. I didn't see anything. Hope it wasn't a coon! Dragged him to the house where he proceeded to try & crawl out the window. Geez!! Crated him & left for work. Hope he sleeps it off.

Just because you didn't see anything does not mean that there wasn't a critter up in the tree.

We eventually plan on having a one to two acre fenced area (under the orchard) for chickens and will probably let the turkeys join the chickens since am not in a blackhead area and I know the turkeys would be much happier. Will be putting in high deer/elk fencing and hot wire as well. Just need to save up $ for that much fencing! Haha

Oh and my turkeys finally discovered the nest boxes and laid eggs there! Hooray! Suuuuper clean eggs (vs the ground or their poop-trays). Yay plastic Easter eggs as laying-bait for them lol.
