A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

So we have an update. As long as things go as planned, MIL should only be here 2-3 weeks, not months, but that's assuming everything goes as it should. BIL handed his credit card over to his BIL to start work on his attic this weekend. Apparently, it won't take long to do at all. Then they will be moving their bedroom up there, giving MIL their old room on the second floor. I'm still not thrilled that she will be here but I'm feeling a lot better about it right now. DH has been in touch with the realtor down there who is getting right on things. She's the same lady that sold the house to his mom and She estimates the house should be sold within 2 months. Hopefully....

My turkeys are acting weird again. Which for turkeys is normal. They have been trying to get themselves killed by playing on the road. I ran them off the road twice yesterday.

Today they were grazing that direction. I took the "chicken scraps" bucket outside and set it near the sidewalk, hoping they would come running and spend time eating from the bucket as opposed to throwing the scraps on the ground near the barn.....They did.

They had to walk around the bucket and inspect it. Gave it the evil eye and talked about it....

Finally one reached in and grabbed an Orange peel and ran with it. The chase was on. This one little bucket could save their loves today if the continue to eat out of it one piece at a time followed by a long chase.

Such weird birds.

Funny how they have to cautiously approach something new & inspect it. They stare at a treat they haven't eaten before and of course before they decide to try it a chicken has grabbed it & run off. Hate they are down by the road tho....
natural selection at work, I have too many right now anyways....

I was really all bummed out that my New year's day turkey eggs weren't developing at all BU most of the ones that I set a week later are looking good :) I feel a little better about that now lol. I really wish Lil would start laying so I could hatch some Mister/Lil cross babies. Cynthia hatched at the same time and is laying

Hopefully Lil will lay soon! Mine just laugh at me when I ask them about laying. Anybody think they would lay quicker if I had a tom? You know....a little incentive?

Not real warm here, 50. Rained all day yesterday and is overcast & misty. It just gets in your bones!! Blah. If it quits I hope to take the girls for a stroll.

Ralphie....turkeys are weird...but that's the fun of it! Never know with a turkey! Always surprises me what freaks them out vs what they dont care about. And they always get themselves into some odd situation. Honestly I find mine easier to care for than my chickens. We have our routine.

I could hook you up with one since Mister and Tommy will probably never be able to move back in to the turkey coop after breeding season. Romeo and Phil own that territory now!

Not real warm at 50?! I was thrilled that it was in the upper 40's yesterday and I was able to scrape the poop boards without freezing to death! It's 40 today but the wind is blowing and the rain is moving in so no outside work today :/ Supposedly, it's supposed to rain Right up through Christmas Eve here then get cold again....yay :/
