A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Hi, KetoJen! :frow

Welcome to the neighborhood. :hugs

Whereabouts in ND? (I’m in the central Black Hills, SD... 20 miles NW of Rapid City, more or less)
I'm on the northeast side about an hour west of Grand Forks. Middle of nowhere. Just the way I like it.
I've been to the black hills a few times and my husband has a friend in the Spearfish area, so I'm familiar with the area. We almost bought property near Belle Fourche before we settled on this area. We looked around Wyoming too. I guess I like the wide open sky.

And I bet you have no fear of drowning while swimming in the local lakes either.....:lau:lau:lau

The cabin fever is getting pretty bad. I went out and dug a snow channel for the flock so they can get away from the coop a bit. Yesterday Boyde wandered out into the path from the house to the coop and paced back and forth a bit before realizing the path lead pretty much nowhere and went back to the flock. It looks so pretty out, but all that dang white stuff is in the way!

It's currently 3 degrees out with a light wind. Almost balmy. It felt good to sweat a little.

The sun is actually warm even if it is cold.

I am getting some inquiries into the turkeys I have on CL. BUT they all seem to want them for nothing. Or they want them in combination I am not interested in selling. Maybe I should add a note to the ad... if not sold at the asking price, they will all fit in my freezers.....

I started tapping maple trees yesterday, I figure it has to get warm soon and if I do not start soon I will miss the flow. I have a feeling it will be a short season.

I am having to use snowshoes to get to the trees. Snowshoes the WW thinks I should have. I think I prefer the ATV to walking on them...

I wouldn't sweat in 3 degree weather. That would kill me! Then marauding guineas would eat me.

I understand. I tend to wilt when it gets above 75. On the rare occasion it gets above 90 up here I practically melt into a puddle, perfect for marauding guineas to take advantage.

We snowshoe at a game preserve up here when I feel I need punishment. At least it's free.

I need some turkey hens now that I decided to keep my young guy. I just need to figure out an arrangement for housing them for a few weeks of quarantine. Be a lot easier without snow banks in the way. What are you asking?

Its shirt sleeve weather here. The sun is shining. There is standing water everywhere since the ground is frozen and it got up to 48°F so far. Of course the wind is having a field day.
