Took the girls for a stroll. All good until a hawk drifted overhead. That ruined the day for the girls. And it kept circling. Dam thing wouldn't leave. So, they are in their pen....undercover.

They’re very observant, poultries, aren’t they? When I was going out the garage back-door with chicken food this morning, DH popped his head in and hollered, “...go out there! There’s a coyote!”

Weird. Why would he want me to do that? But maybe he’s just not up to dealing with coyotes (he’s got the crud really bad) so I went out. The cows were all looking at it. The chickens would have been if they weren’t still locked in their shed. I didn’t have the means to do anything else so I yelled, “Get out of here you sonofanaughtyword!”

DH is incensed. “Why did you do that? I told you not to go out there.” He’s standing on the deck with his rifle, ear muffs, yellow glasses... Well we’re both a little deaf, but he seriously said that “Don’t” before he opened the door into the garage. So now he’s in trouble for being rude. Well, not actually, but he was until he said sorry. I’m pretty bummed all the same. I wanted that coyote’s hide. There are a LOT of them out there this last few years.

Female hormones are flowing today! The poor tom can't move anywhere without multiple hens running to flop down right in his path.

So I'm just hanging around waiting for the storms to move in. Accompanied by damaging 50 mph winds and 3 inches of rain. So annoying.
R2elk...saw on the national news that the great state of Wyoming is expecting a blizzard. Does that include you?

Well so much for my Daily Weather Whining. Went to let the girls know the weather will be violent & to hang onto their roosts. Not happy hens...

Did get to run my coonhound early this morning . Hopefully that took care of his energy load. He's so pesty when bored. Poor puppy. This weather has really put a damper on our training schedule.

I maybe over cautious with the girls. I just feel better when they are in a dry coop with a wind break during this kind of weather. So much easier that putting their rain boots & coats on.
