A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

So the tom my daughter raised solo, Ablyn, he has a major shoe infatuation. It doesn't matter who, he just loves shoes, even if you are not wearing them.

My gander lollipop has a shoe fetish. He's very friendly with everyone, all the time but when he gets worked up, it's the shoes that suffer. Several people have seen things that they didn't know male geese had....

Congratulations!

@Auroradream26 had a poult that strutted at a very young age which turned out to be a hen.

The behavior you are describing is dominance behavior and to be expected from a male or a female poult that is raised by itself with chicks.

If it turns out to be a tom, it will eventually start killing your chickens once it reaches sexual maturity and tries to breed the chickens.

Yes, my Princess was strutting by 1 day old and I had her named Prince for the longest time. I also thought Pebbles was a tom for quite a while too but she's off course the broody queen the turkey pen lol

I disagree that a Tom raised only with chicks will eventually kill the chickens, provided he gets turkey hens to show his affections too.

This is going to be a picture heavy post but I thought everyone would like updated pictures of the penciled babies :) This is just the older group. There are a few more little ones in the other brooder.

How old are they?

Ohmygoodness Aurora. They’re so funny! I’m in love! :love

KetoJen, it’s been kind of warm here. We had 47 degrees yesterday, which was about 10 degrees warmer than NOAA thinks we got. I guess we’re in something of a warm pocket. Nevertheless the fences are still “short“. :gigI loved that. Hopefully we get out today. DH says we’re getting out or getting stuck. I don’t care if he gets the tractor stuck, but it’s dang sure not gonna be ME who does it. :p

I hope you get out. I can imagine the frustration.

Oh, I’m not frustrated. I don’t get cabin fever as badly as DH. He’s so funny. He wants to go to town like every other day and when we get there, he’s like, “What do you wanna do?” I pretend to be surprised and point out that this trip was his idea.

So we do a couple of mundane things and then he, frustrated at the traffic and the “bad drivers” (every other driver but him (lol)) asks whether I’m ready to go home yet... PLEASE? So we go home. The end (until a day or two). I’m glad I’m not type A. I hope it will soon warm up enough to get the tractor & 4-wheeler out of the garage so we can get a project going, if only to give him something to do.

How old are they?

Roughly 4-8 weeks? Something like that?

OMG! The penciled babies are adorable! Do some have darker feathers than others? Will their adult feathers be different shades? Remind me....do they all have the same parents? I cant remember....

Loved the Lollipop story! Silly goose!

Thank you! Most of them are Mister x Lil and yes, they're feathers will be different colors. I'm anxious to see what they will all turn out like :)
