The neighbor one half mile east of me had his turkeys go on walk-about this morning. They have been captured and returned to their home.

I have moved turkey eggs to the hatcher. My largest hatch of the year!!!!

I threw out 3 eggs and I think 2 more are questionable. I moved about 30 eggs. It is hard to get an accurate count because of the way eggs move around so much...


I am hoping to get close to 20 poults from this hatch

Brain says I really need to move the Nari tom into the breeding pen. Heart says no. Black tom is still there. Last time I put him in the pasture the BR tom nearly killed him. What's a black tom over RP. BR, Nari and blacks give me? I know, I should just process the black and move the nari.

R2elk...my girls can only dream handsome fellas like that would wander into their yard! Only thing we attract seems to be guineas.

Speaking of girls...got home & my two are standing side by side preening. Guess the fighting is over! Whew! Glad we are through the annual wrestling match.

Black tom, Royal Palm hen = Tri-Color Mottled Black.

Black tom, Bourbon Red hen = Rusty Black.

Black tom, Narragansett hen = Barred Black.

Black tom, Black hen = Black.

I personally do not favor Black turkeys especially if they are being raised for eating.
