They do have pretty eyes!
I worry sometimes that I've gone over the edge.

I'm surprised every time I go to the feed store and see the bins full of chicks. In past years they went so fast the bins were always empty by the time I got there.Alicia...I couldn't sell those cute bug eyed poults! Congrats on the new incubator! Seems like poultry sales are slow this year. It's the wacky weather. Even my friends here, where it should be warm by now, are saying chick sales are slow due to the up and down temps.
What?? No heritage birds in the fair?View attachment 1726582 View attachment 1726584 picked up 4 BBB for the kids to take to fair, only broad breasted are allowed in the sale ring for market animal. They just came in at Big R within the last 2 days because they still have egg teeth on a few.
Ha I figured I would have no problems processing BBB because I thought turkeys were ulgy .... they sure grow on you...I had to have someone else do the deedThey are so cute! What sweet turkey faces!!
Geez....hope I'm not the only one who thinks turkey hens are cute. Most of my friends think they are unfortunate looking. Maybe beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
Broad Breasted turkeys may be the easiest to get attached to. As Ralphie knows, some heritage turkeys can be complete butt holes.Ha I figured I would have no problems processing BBB because I thought turkeys were ugly .... they sure grow on you...I had to have someone else do the deed

They are allowed, just not in market classes, only breeder or "heritage" classes. They aren't allowed in the market division so can't go into the sale ring. Esther is working on changing the rules, but hasn't gotten it done yet. What?? No heritage birds in the fair?
