A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Poults are hatching today. I got one that has whiter down than I've ever seen on a poult. Anybody know what that indicates? @R2elk ? I've hatched lots of palms with all yellow down, but this one is so much paler.

I have never seen a pure white poult. Did you check the eye color to see if it is an albino? Looks like you will have to run this one by Kevin Porter.

Dang Daisy....found her standing in my Japanese Fern bed happily munching away.
She just wanted a nice healthy salad. You provided the greenery, you can't expect her not to partake.

I tried planting some ferns last year. Some of them actually started looking good before the chickens destroyed them.

On a side note, I had a huge Red-tailed hawk sitting in one of my Russian Olive trees. I had no idea what the turkeys were all watching until I saw it. Unfortunately no camera, so no picture.

The eye color looks dark like all the other ones. When I take it out of the incubator, I will look more closely.

Wow. Strange to think I might have something unusual!

The snake wants out of her pen today. She is sittin by the door. Poor lady. I think i will wrangle goats early for dinner and open her door and see what she does without every bein out. One poult is mia :/. I think it may have gotten out yesterday and went walkabout and didnt find its way home. There was a small gap in the door bottom amd i had one escapee when i went up. This mornin... eesh! I took the stick coverin the spot off so i could take gracie in to milk and holy hell seven lil peeper popped out and went amok. I am POSITIVE i was the sight tryin catch those lil speedy gonzales things and tryin get them back in. Lol! Thank goodness the snake called them to her when i went to put gracie in the stand. So no more runnin amok poults.

I've been told by others here locally that they really don't want the owners "selecting" the birds they test. But I gotta say it was so funny when he picked up the snake. She tore him up and he didn't know what to do. I was really good and didn't laugh out loud. I did take pity on him and grabbed her legs and took her to the tester. He knew how to hold her without getting pecked.

Letting them choose which ones they want to test is not the same as letting them catch them. I let people pick out the ones they want to purchase but I do the catching. I have had to teach many how to hold a turkey.

The proper way to hold a dux is not like the proper way to hold a turkey...
