On Thursday I successfully hatched my first turkey! I am amazed at how many markings the poult has. The colors were expected as we purchased some others of the same breed but we're already 2 months old at the time. Friday another egg hatched, there are 3 eggs left to hatch but I was shocked that this 2nd baby is blonde! I have no idea if that's the right term. Some help on that would be appreciated lol. Anyway here they are getting some snuggles as they peep until they fall asleep otherwise.View attachment 1851320 View attachment 1851321 View attachment 1851322
We need to know what variety the parents are to have a starting point on what should have been expected. They are all the breed Turkey.

Ok, you asked for it! Pictures of the penciled flock! I may have taken WAY too many lol

And this one may make a journey to the swap since Phil gets breeding rights to all the penciled ladies

Remember that bratty palm poult that used to jump on my head? This is Duchess. She's just about all grown up now but still loves to pick on me. She just got done picking at my shorts for attention here.

I love this one's coloring. Very much pastel

The baby of the bunch. She's the smallest in the turkey pen and the last penciled That I hatched out this year. She's bonded to a group of chickens and tries to escape every day to hang out with them. I had to clip a wing so she couldn't anymore. She comes crying to me every evening, complaining about having to sleep with the turkeys!

Beautiful! :love

I'm still holding on to my theory that my penciled is a hen. And I really think my mottled is a tom. When I got them....the mottled was smaller and obviously younger. Now its bigger, with thick ankles....and its tiny snood is standing upright and is definitely larger than the pencileds. And its head is all of a sudden just generally larger. They've always had very different personalities. So...just a theory....cause I have no experience with poults! However....I can pick figure out the sexes of a SS at an early age!!
