Lap turklets. Had the two girls sitting on my knees - one on each side but facing away from each other. Couldn't get a pic of both at the same time.

I didn't have room for more - so Cooper could only stand and watch lol.

Any suggestions on if a hen or a roo? My Buff Orpington named Cappuccino is now larger than any of the other hens and MOST of the roos - including the Light Brahmas. Those feathers are sure looking pretty "pointed" to me. My other Buff Orpington never had a long tail, either.

Ah well. I thought so - no crowing yet, but I just knew those feathers were telling a different story. Saves me an estimated 28 eggs a month lol. Will now have to find him a girlfriend. Figures though since he was paid for as a she.

Flash....I second Ralphies SS comments. Solid white feathers are a no no. But I agree they are such fun birds....who cares? There were a few older guys breeding for show several years ago that had developed some nice birds. But I don't think they are around anymore. I wish they were a more popular breed. They make a good backyard breed for folks that just want easy going egg layers. Especially if they have kids. The other problem is lack of size in the breed. They remain my favorite breed with my Barnvelders running a close second.

6 " of rain, again....had same over last weekend. But this was over a day. Creeks are back in their banks, but low areas have standing water.... Rain again tonight
Took the dog out at dawn to check fences. Turkeys were still in the trees. When I came back a jake was hanging by a leg on a 6' dividing fence. He is limping but seems ok otherwise. I am going to take that fence down because this is the second time one has flown down and gotten hung up on it. Several have smacked into it. It will be easier to get the tractor in there too.

It's scary to find them hanging by a leg like that. I've found several. One poult from a water fount (I started removing the handles after that), and a turkey hen from the swing in their coop. The poult died, probably because it got cold, but the hen recovered. She limped for a while too though.

If you work really hard at it you might be able to get Poppy to gobble on command.

It impresses people when they see my Toms all gobbling when I tell them too.

We are going to need video evidence of this.

It just now hit the high for the day of 54°F. The low was 39°F at 8:16 AM.
