A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Here’s my bird, and my niece, for size comparison (and ‘cause she’s such a cutie).

The turkey was 38 lbs and took 4 1/2 hrs at 350* to “falling-off-the-bone” stage. (Super yummy, btw) It’s a consumer-type convection oven, but still... I’m mystified. I was hoping he’d be done by 2:00. It’s just weird. It takes about that same amount of time to roast a 16 lb grocery store bird. At 15 min per pound, it ought to take 9.5 hours. I expected it to go quicker in the convection oven but still...

Cindy....your niece is darling. The turkey is a whopper. Looks delicious!

Alicia...love the potholder! Super work! The turkey looks great too!!

Bantambird....the TWC was "ok". Nothing stellar....but appropriate. Still surprised they showed ANY coonhound! Usually with scent hounds it's only the Bloodhound. And with sight hounds it's always the Afgan.

Lol they had to show a different sight hound, because the pharoh hound won, lol! Handsome, very striking!

Ralph.....that photo of you & DQ you posted in the close up contest is my all time favorite!

Hope everyone enjoys turkey sandwiches today. Leftovers is one of my favorite Thanksgiving things. Anyone doing the Black Friday thing? Aurora....I remember you used too. My plans today include being a bum & spending time with the girls. Gave the coonhound a slice of turkey with his breakfast this morning. He's sleeping it off now!
