Glad to hear the tree turkeys survived. I'd freak if mine decided to spend the night in a tree. But then again, I worry when they get muddy feet. I wanted to put them in rain slickers & muck boots the other day. I'm jealous of the Chantix turkeys wardrobe. I worry about them when I'm out of town. Sigh.....I'm pathetic.

Garlic huh? I can't eat it raw. May try the sock thing. Do you just stick cloves in your socks? Or rub it on your feet? I've also heard vicks on your feet with socks could help. Don't need to get sick. Have to travel next week. Anyone near Austin TX?
I'm sipping lemon water with honey. Curled up in bed with the coonhound. Who is the perfect footwarmer. Besides killing varmints in the yard...he doubles as a full body heating pad. What more could I ask for!

Molpet....I know in my head those turkeys are hardy...more so thsn me! I just fuss over them. Entitled & spoiled. But that's ok. They sure get away with more than any of my dogs ever did!!

Turkeys once past the juvenile suicide ages are much hardier than people give them credit for.

I wasn't worried about the weather until the rain and cold came together.
Grandfather had a tale an old Indian told him.... yeah I know.... anyway , The Indians used to eat lots of turkey until a freezing rain and temps dropped way down. They found a lot of dead turkeys and didn't see many live ones ever again.

See!! I feel justified in not putting a soaked turkey to bed in freezing temps! Of course down here it probably wouldn't get cold enough to kill them. But it just sounds uncomfortable.

My birds roost on bars in the pen during most weather. I have noticed when I have a soaking rain and temps are dropping they hang out in coop until rain is done. Then they all head out into the pen to do some ice skating. I have went out of a morning and found most to be white with frost but that does not bother them.

Same thing, cut up the cloves then put them in your socks for the night. Garlic can be hard to eat raw but the saltine crackers take the bite away. You can eat the smallest piece of garlic with each cracker till it's gone.

I pickle it. Pickled garlic is yummy raw... just be careful not to overdo it. People who get near will still notice that you've been eating raw garlic.
