A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

It's currently 34 here with a real feel of 23. Snow flurries, but had heavy dense fog and pouring down rain all day yesterday and last night. I know WV has ALL schools closed or on delays due to flooding and/or the flu - except for 6 in the panhandle. I figure it might not take long for those to close because of the rampant flu going around. I can only imagine how bad it could be if you can't get out but need to with sick kids. Not sure about schools up here in western Maryland, but these counties all border WV.

Wind is the big thing here - averaging 20 mph. This old place "moves" when it does that.
20 mph is considered a calm day here.. the wind has the entire Dakotas to pick up speed..with not a lot to slow it down.

or I guess I could have said “ditto” to BB’s post.. had I read it first.

It definitely amuses me that any schools close with less than a foot per day.

I bet it does. I noticed the big difference between the schools here and the ones a half hour away and down the mountain. Our kids will go in much more than they will. I can only imagine the difference up your way.

They've closed schools here just on the threat of snow. We have no snow removal capabilities. We usually get ice vs snow.

We've had a few school closings due to flu too. But how about those two cruise ships being quarantined? Can you imagine being confined to your room for a few weeks? Cruising with thousands of people is not something I'd ever do to begin with... but I feel for the people stuck in rooms with no windows.

Going on a cruise is a dream of mine. It would be miserable being confined to the rooms though

Cruise= trapped on a boat with a City full of people.... I don't care how big a boat it is... it's a floating City and you can't get off when you want

Alaska day cruise would be good

Good to know!!!!

I was just looking at a tree & flower magazine...... thinking about ordering something.

Maybe something full grown?
Lol
You probably need to protect your plantings from deer, bunnies, possums... If you put a fence around things, just make sure there’s no convenient perches at the top, or anything that looks like one.

I agree, Ralphie - I get far too many of the 40-50 mph winds too. There's been a lot of trees that have gone down this year - even on my place. I am fortunate that MOST of the trees have been bent by the wind for so long, they lean //// parallel to me instead of straight hits. I suppose because I live on a pretty open ridge between two "mountains".

One of the guys next door came over to tell me my turkeys were in their yard. They bought a big new gas grill & were trying to put it together. The teenagers flew over the fence to supervise. Went to get them home & all three were standing on the grill. The other guy was sitting in a lawn chair just talking to them. Both these guys are country boys. Luckily get a kick out of the turkeys.

What a bunch of brats! You may have to clip a wing on each of them lol

They can be brats....but they are sweet brats! I think Iris led the way nextdoor. The guys were sitting around talking & trying to get the grill together. I think she got curious. Last night I was sitting on a bench. Daisy on my lap, Blosson & Marigold...one sitting on either side of me and Iris...standing on the garage roof doing her vulture imitation. Its Iris who's the trouble maker!!

Sometimes I feel the term mountain means different things to people from different places.
Says the lady from a state named after the word for mountain...
