A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

One of the turkey hens has slowed down on how often she is laying eggs and even spent the night on the nest last night. She had turned to face the front of the nest to keep the chicken hens out but lately has been sharing the nest with them. I tried to pull a chicken out of the nest today. She finally dartd back out past me. The turkey hen tried to get out too but I blocked her in. I gave her a dozen turkey eggs. At first she was too busy trying to get out the other side of the box but when she calmed down, she started eyeballing the eggs.

I backed off and got out of the way but she did not come racing out and stood there looking at the eggs. She must have decided they were okay because she is now sitting on the eggs in a way that she has the entrance blocked and can keep the chickens out.

Everything's still closed up in our general area but in our little town, it doesn't look any different. But then again, all we really have is a Sheetz, a dollar store, beer distributors, and a post office all of which are still open.
Keeping up with a coonhound is a full-time job in itself.

*Too lazy to type twice copy and pasting this story from another thread...lol.

The hound dog found something he thought was terrifying in the yard after the storm last night.
He was not about to give up woofing at it until I went outside to check it out.
I was not too thrilled to go wade in the cold water to see what all the fuss was about.
I expected a bullfrog a snake or at least a giant worm or something worth woofing about.
Nope. Just one of my duck decoys that blew over and was upside down 🤣
Oh the horror!

nap time. 4 dried enough to pull from incubator. 6 still drying and a few more pipped in incubator

So cute Fred! What color will they be?

Your right Shaw! But aren't they fun??

R2elk....she sounds like a good momma! Send pictures!
Most of the time it's fun.
It's been kind of like getting remarried.
When he is being sweet, cute, cuddly and fun I just adore him and I am so thankful to have him.

the rest of the time I spend wondering why in the hell did I do this to myself again.

LOL....so true Shaw!!

No decision will be made on lifting our isolation until mid May. Draught. I'd like to get my hair cut. But since its straight as a stick & I dont use color....I'm not in as bad shape as some. Here's an interesting fact....my sister is a year younger and is completely grey. I hardly have any grey, just light brown fading to blonde in the sun. Fred met her....he can "testify ", as they say here. I do keep it styled....I'm with clients all the time & try my best to look professional. I usually wear long sleeved crisp tailored blouses....due to turkey wing & coonhound bruising! Marigold needs to perfect her lapper technique. She wings me each time she hops in my lap. I started sticking to long sleeves when one of my coworkers asked who did this to me. She thought I was being abused! I had to convince her it was turkey & hound bruises. Not sure she believed me.

Had nasty storms last night. Lots of thunder. But I think we are in the clear for a few days. Maybe I can get some up dated pics of the girls. Marigold's beard is getting longer! Despite all the rain, they look good.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦 I can relate to all of that.
I got my hair cut right before the stay home order.
She wanted to know why parts of my hair looked like it had been chewed off. ..or ripped out.

Well ..that is because it Had been chewed off and ripped out. 🤣
She's a dog person though so she totally understood coon hound hair damage. 😆
