Poult thief!!

Here's a new one. Skinny Iris is running between two nests. She's stealing eggs & putting them in one or the other nest. She'll sit on one nest awhile then go sit on the other for a bit. I cleaned them out & carried her around a bit giving her "the talk". Goofy bird!!

Get a broody buster cage ready.

We've had storms all morning. Again, lots of thunder. Seems it can't just rain anymore. They started early. Woke me up....but I rather enjoy a loud storm when snuggled in bed.

Time to pull them from at least the one that is not due

I had to swipe the poults for no other reason than to stop the constant pleading/crying. One Tri-Color Mottled Slate and four Sweetgrass poults are in the brooder. Mama is back on her nest with 6 more eggs. It is quiet now!!!!!

Do your hens remember that you stole poults?
I have 3 hens that seen me steal some of the poults. They stay away from me and will attack if I get too close. 7 hens didn't see that and are fine when I come by.

Yeah, right! The brooder is in the coop. I am in the house. The hens are within 6' of me but there is a wall between us.

Yes they remember but they see me as the supreme ruler that I am. I did not even get a single peck today, let alone a wing slap.
