Looks just to be the outer spur sheath. It should grow back. I would just watch for infection, but it doesn't look like any from pic he should be fine.View attachment 2971489View attachment 2971491
My poor boy seems to have injured his spur somehow. I dont see any blood and the thing is still hard as a rock on there so I'll just keep an eye on him for now.

Harper got relaxed and decided it was a nice 60 degree day to just lounge for awhile. She's the weirdest bird and makes the strangest noises. I'll have to try and get a video of it.
Beautiful just not the kind of beauty you really want to see around your poultry. The wild hen is sitting on the roost tonight with the rest of the turkeys. This is why.

Yeah I had it before it went to you. A few hours of rain last night before it switched to snow after dark. I got half the Turkey hens into a coop last night. 12 inches before it quit today. Maybe some lake effect plume tomorrow 2 to 12 inchesHad to knock the ice and wet snow off all my pens cover netting today they started to get weighted down. Went back just before dark and snow is not sticking to netting anymore. Also a few larger branches down in yard. Finally, has gotten colder and snow is now lighter/fluffier should be good now. It started out mix of rain/snow this morning and turned to snow, has been snowing all day and supposed to continue until tomorrow eve. Shoveled all the doors to pens out before all that slushy wet snow freezes them all shut tonight. Hopefully will just be fluffy snow to remove tomorrow. Before all is over tomorrow, they are calling for 12"- 20". Sure glad I ended up getting most of my birds separated in their breeding pens and groups this last weekend.
