A Constable sniffing around my house...

Sounds a bit fishy, you're right. I agree with Mahonri, I'd call the main office and a. find out if there is something out there for your mother, and therefore validate his being a constable or not - and b. I'd file a formal complaint that he was snooping around your place thinking you weren't around. That must be troubling, and can't be acceptable.

You're in G.B., correct? I'm not sure what the protections are there for this sort of thing, but there must be something in place.

It could be a case of mistaken identity, but I'd be proactive nonetheless.

Keep us abreast of all of this!

Constable's here deal with civil issues, not criminal, but it does include traffic tickets.

Unless he thought your mother was in distress, or something...but there was no indication of that so I'm thinking he over-stepped his boundaries...so to speak.

I think you should complain, maybe to whoever manages your county issues, like the County Judge ?

The only thing that would concern me about calling to complain about his behavior would be if you thought that would get you 'blacklisted'. Some law enforcement is wonderful, but I've lived places where there was a pack mentality to it, and they would target you if you rubbed one of them the wrong way.

Okay, an unmarked car and non-uniformed person looking in the windows and outbuildings of a woman who is home alone is NOT ACCEPTABLE. You need to call the number this guy left, ask to speak to his boss, and let him know how you feel about your privacy being violated.

I got a notice that i was behind on my child support and that they were gonna start garnishing my wages
all of my children live with me and my husband
when i called the number on the paper work they told me that they couldnt give me any information cause my ss# didnt match the number that they had on file
i never had to pay child support because my girls are with me
i was just unlucky enough to share the same name as some dead beat

I had police come to my house to arrest me! They had a warrant and everything. SInce I had in the past taught at the police academy and the officer arrived on my BIRTHDAY - I thought it was a joke!!

It wasn't.

Again a mistake of mistaken identity which the police allowed her to turn into identity theft. She had no license. When she got arrested they ran her name and got my license. Then they gave her a ticket with my name and address on it.

The rest, as they say, is history..... It took several years to straighten out as oddly she did look a bit like me.

Hopefully this is easily resolved.

The DMV once charged my mom over $500 on "late fees" on a license plate for a van we owned years ago! They thought we still owned it...

DBF sold a car several years ago. About a year after selling it we got notice that it had been impounded and he owed some $400 in fees. Turns out that the person who bought it never registered the title in his name so DBF was still the legal owner. Because DBF submitted the info on the DMV's website, which was glitched, the state never got it. He had to pay the fines PLUS the fees to have it junked. We had to drive in rush hour traffic to a city about 50 miles away.

We were lucky: we were headed out on vacation the next day for a week. If we hadn't gotten that mail on the day we did, DBF would have owed another week of impound fees.
