I'm still waiting....my EE is 30 weeks, still no egg. I can assume she will wait till spring now I've tried shaming, hasn't worked. I call her the Slacker

Poor Slacker, she will lay when she is ready. Hey DD's BF had to wait almost 2 months for a kiss, and then it was his birthday. No young lady should do anything until she is ready!!!

This is true! I have 2 RSL that have been laying since end of August/Labor day, just anxious to get that blue egg!

I'm in! Ive got 2 Cuckoo Morans, Cuckoo and Mandy, who started laying consistently at 18 weeks. My Buff Orpies, Buffy and
Gertie, are 23 weeks and not laying, but will give them more time before they are put in the dud category ...My 2 Light sussex, Mary and Lizzy, however are 28 weeks, have bright red combs, but have never even entered the nest boxes, and I can't get near them enough to see if they are squatting. I keep looking around the yard to see if maybe they are leaving gifts else where but to no avail. I did not raise them from chicks like my others and it did take awhile to get them feeling at home with my other girls. They are healthy, big and fluffy and I have been waiting most expectantly!


The last image is of Gertie, up-close and personal, my rotten (supposed Buff Orpie) who kept pecking my camera and fingers while trying to photograph the other 2!

I've got a SLW named "Emmy" who I consider a dud. It took her 9+mo's to lay her 1st egg & when she finally did, it was a soft shell. Every egg shes ever laid has been a soft shell & no amount of extra calcium changes it. Luckily she doesn't lay too often because those softies are a mess & encourage the cursed egg eating.
