I have two beautiful blue Cochins, which I got from our local feed store as day old chicks this April. My 7 New Hamsphire Reds and my 8 Delawares, about a month older (got them as day olds in March), are laying like gangbusters, but I have yet to see one of the blue Cochins on a nest so I'm guessing they haven't started yet. But I don't care, I got them because of the fact that they are blue Cochins. And what an opportunity, I got to pick out two that are actually a beautiful blue. When you order them, you have a good chance of getting black or white or splashed, especially if you just order a few.

I am jealous that your Delaware is laying! Mine is just huge and fat (or maybe just fluffy), but definitely the biggest in my flock, with beautiful red wattles and NO EGGS! Haha. I hope your cochins lay soon, I don't think the breed is particularly known for their laying, but I hear great things about them in general and they are beautiful!

25 and 28 weeks old - still no eggs from my 2 Buff Orpies, or my 2 Light Sussex :( On the bright side my 2 Cuckoo Marans are laying almost every day! I'm getting 12 a week from them...most impressive!

One of my four duds is no longer a dud! This actually apparently happened 3 days ago, as I just found 3 of her eggs outside the nest boxes, in the corner of the coop. So to recap, all my pullets are 30 weeks old now - Golden Comet started laying at 23 weeks, Black Australorp started at 29.5 weeks, and we're still waiting on the Golden Laced Wyandotte, Easter Egger, and Cuckoo Marans.
