A croaking chicken

Just watched a video of a hen with gapeworm. Sounds different to penny. Penny sounds like she's full of snot. You know when humans get congested and your chest sort of rumbles. That's what she sounds like. Not wheezing, more congested. Dan got hoe and said 'she sounds like she's full of water'

Thanks pwand. The only symptom that really fits is the wheezing. Nevertheless, I am going to hopefully find a vet that can see her today

she is still eating this morning, though slowed down a bit I think.

I've found that raw garlic juice works wonders for any sick chicken if you want to try that. Also scrambled eggs are a hen's best friend when she's not too interested in her food. I assume her crop is a normal size, otherwise I would say she could be impacted. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I just looked up the impacted crop. It's possible that's it, but I really don't know. I just don't know enough about chickens to know what to do :( but she is usually a pig, so it's possible because se eats so much!

Ok I think I found her crop! But unfortunately she has eaten today. It doesn't feel solid, I can feel all the different grains in it (its not a hard lump). I smelt her breath last night aswell and it wasn't offensive... It just smelt like chicken lol...

Check her crop in the morning to see how her crop feels and see if its totally empty, make sure the food isn't available. I have use a multivitamin without iron and give it a little scrapping into the water. Very little. First make sure it's not crop related, I believe I read not to give them vitamins, I think in case if there is a sugar content in it. I could be wrong.
