A croaking chicken

It's been raining non-stop for three days now. Very heavy at times. My chickens have been happy playing in the rain. But I just went out and they were in the coop. Penny had already laid an egg... And now when she talks she sounds croaky. I've already noticed she's not very waterproof. Do you think she's got a cold? Is there anything I can do?

I have locked then in the coop for now. (I've had a tarp over it so its dry in there, and the tarp covers 2 sides so its reasonably warm. They also have the house, which is completely sheltered and warm

I don't know what to do (if anything). I have locked them in their chicken coop house for the night. She seems fine other than her funny voice. (She sounds a bit like a duck).

Please help! I'm stressed to the max here, due to her and that they are saying our areas are going to flood again (not our house thankfully!)

Do you think it could just be stress (of the constant rain)? Should I move her to the bathroom (and possibly stress her out) or leave her where she is (asleep)?

Please help!

I have brought them inside now. The weather is getting violent outside and at least I can keep an eye on them in here. I have steamed up the bathroom in hopes that will help penny, but other than that, I just don't know. Tomorrow is a public holiday and we are experiencing cyclonic weather that is going to cause high floods etc. I don't know what to do.

Is she croaking when she breathes? I wish I could do more to help, but I don't really know. I'm not sure steam will help. I'd keep them warm and quiet.

We had a chicken that was croaking each time she breathed during a very hot spell last summer. I thought was having a heat stroke and brought her inside a cooler garage, misted her, gave her water, and place a fan on her. She eventually calmed down and started breathing normally.

im no expert, hope someone else chimes in. but i agee steaming the room is not the best thing id say keep warm and dry. sorry to be so little help

is she eating drinking? poop normal? not throwing her head back? (gape worm) looked up symptoms- lethargic.puffed up. throwing head back.gen unwell.
one post said eating to quick can cause it.how longs she been making this noise? is it raspy breathing or just when she talks?
i dont know much but if you give all symptomsill try to help searching for answers. hope a more experienced voice chimes in soon . x

Mine do this sometimes when the weather's cold and wet. As long as their coop is warm, dry, and large (4+ sq ft per bird), you can keep them in it for a few days in really bad weather. How is she doing now? How about the rest of the flock?

She really sounds like she is struggling to breathe now. (Though has been for a few hours). I called a vet and they said they would really need to see her, but right now it's impossible. The weather is VERY bad and we're on tornado watch. Some lovely people told me to give her some vegemite in water, because that will give her some vitamins, which will hopefully get her through the night.

I'm just so worried.

She is sometimes breathing with her mouth open. Throws her head back occasionally (but not often). No discharge in her eyes or nose. I turned the light on and gave her some food before and she happily ate it. She seems to be pooing normally.
