Great! Awesome idea. I might be trying that for one of my girls who is at the bottom of the pecking order and vision impaired to boot. She usually can't even make it up to the roost . . . some nights she just sleeps on the poop board. Maybe we could set her up with a "friend" on the far end of the poop board instead of directly under the other girls.

That is a great idea! It would also be a nice idea for a chicken that is confined to a crate or something to recuperate from illness or injury.

Quick update. I recently went out to check on the girls in the evening. The bully of my flock was being mean to my lonely chicken. She ran and wedged herself between the stuffed toy and the back wall so that the bully had less of a target. The bully walked away. Friends make everything better!
