Thats it exactly...what hasnt the government screwed up? They need to legislate not control and manage interest.

I think it is pretty sad that the Government gets blamed for everything. So much for UNITED we stand....

Many valid points here.

Trouble is, the current private system is not necessarily any better, and yet, people have to pay for it.

Er, ddawn, if "we the people" don't pay for the possible new health care system who will?....the Chinese, the Russians, the...? The health care given will still have to be paid for...there's no such thing as a free lunch.

Here's the thing ,someone voted enough of one party in office to pass anything without the other partys agreement so it really dosen't matter if its bad or good IF our people in the house and senate want it we really can't do anything about it now. I'm sure they will throw a few of the things that really don't matter out to makes the protesters feel like they won but it's really all ready over the prezz promised Kennedy he will pass it before he dies , It will be!

Many other countries have socialized healthcare, and yet, they ALL come to the United States of America, with it's Government-named-faulty healthcare system.

A guy named Steven Crowder went to Canada and, undercover, filmed what the entire emergency room process was like. This is very informative, and true.

I will never support a government run health care plan. Change what's bad about the current system - there is NO reason to hand over control of health care to the government, and it is unconstitutional to boot.

I mean, if you want to know what a government run system would look like - just look at the other things they run - Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, Post Office, Veterens Health...let's see bankrupt, bankrupt, bankrupt, bankrupt, bankrupt.

Yeah, sounds like a GREAT plan.

WOW - talk about pre-conceived ideas.

I think it is sad that you feel this way - that you think the reason people are upset about the "changes" is because they are sore losers.

WOW. That is all I can say.

I mean never mind the trillions of dollars in debt for these new pet projects, or what the constitution says...it must be about petty party bickering.

I cannot even relate to you...really. I'm stunned.

One other thing I wanted to add. I know this might be just applied to this particular Military Base but before my mother passed I went to get prescriptions filled at the base Hospital as she was physically unable. I took a number, there was over 100 people ahead of me, I waited over 2 hrs for medication for her. You couldn't just drop off the Script and pick it up later.
I would call that Goverment run .
My DIL is from BC and her grandmother waited 18 months for a knee replacment and she could hardly get around and was in pain

I read all 1018 pages and the thing that stood out to me was that most of it 'amended' some other already existing agency... ie. Medicare, -cade, SS Act etc. Why not fix what we have? Why reinvent the wheel and throw the good stuff already in place away? I'm curious what other people think on this. I know we are a country of 'throw away the old' and buy it new mentality but this isn't last years model car or TV. These are HUGE amounts of money we talking about.

No reasonable person will dispute the fact that people get bad care, or that they fall thru the cracks. But there are ALOT of plans. programs, both state and fed, that do help alot of people. I have close personal knowledge of folks who have had no insurance but had babies in rooms right next to my other friend who worked for the hospital. Ones baby got no less quality of care than the other... only one had fancy insurance and the other was on public assistance. I have a relative that has mental health issues and is constantly in and out of JHU psych ward.. For weeks with expensive drugs and treatments. She has no insurance and the hospital treated her and found her programs to assist with prescriptions and docts. We have a public health system.

I see the problem as you can't make people drink once you get them to the water... so to speak. If someone isn't currently seeking medical care they prob don't care that they don't have insurance. Some people take their chances b/c of expense or laziness. Some of the folks who don't have insurance currently, don't care. Why are we forcing it onto them and paying for them?

Just my humble opinion.

PS No one has mentioned the last 400 pages of the bill that includes the National Corps of doctors. To be trained and education paid by the government... with financial consequences if they don't follow the mandates stated by the government on care given once they are finished their education including government placement (they can be forced to move to other parts of the country as the govern sees fit) for the term of repayment. Anyone thoughts on that?

Having the government pay for your healthcare is fantastic as long as you're mostly healthy (check-ups, colds, minor stuff).

As soon as something big happens, you and your family are at the mercy of the faceless beurocracy - and most of us will be screwed.

Please look at EVERY socialized medicine program IN THE WORLD and see how the ill and the old get the shaft. They have to to save costs - money doesn't grow on trees, ya know!

Oregon has state run health care. Recently in the news was a woman with cancer who was informed that her recommended Chemo regime was too expensive. The state would pay for her hospice care, or for physician assisted suicide (also legal in Oregon).

That is the truth of Government running our lives. Are we really willing to give up freedom for a few paid-for check-ups?
