A DECADE OF DUCK TALK 2017- 2027

No, not homeschooled. Public; we just had mid terms.. I did pretty good on the math (92), and aced science (100!) which I did not think I would do.
But, because I'm in public school, I leave at 7:10 and come back at around 2:50 or 3:00. I told myself I would wait until spring break (Maximum time with the duckies), but I've been second guessing myself - I really want ducks again! But at the rate this is going, it may just be April 3 when we finally finish!
I already cleaned up the pen and house and got the poop out, I just need my dad to help me reinforce the cage with more wire mesh/fencing/I don't really know what to call it. Maybe this weekend?

Oh, okay! Wow, that is good!!! Oh, that's too bad... Whatever you think is best! Sounds like you are getting a lot done!

It's going really slow, though, to me at least

My original plan was to get ducks with the same birthday as my brother and I (February 6) because that'd be adorable and Metzers happened to be selling ducklings born on the 6! But that's not gonna happen lol.

Oh, that would have been fun, but probably stressful.

The first eggs from my Welsh Harlequins are infertile. How long does it usually take for the drakes to figure out what to do? Are there any steps I should take to facilitate fertility?

I have an opportunity to buy some adult Muscovies, but I don't have a great place to quarantine them. How prone are they to illness that is not obvious when purchased? How long do you quarantine ducks? Are there diseases that they carry without symtoms that could be a problem for my chickens?

I decided to skip the Muscovies (not enough space) for this year.
Do ducks need a pool to mate ? I haven't heard that before, but I'm getting no fertile eggs at all from my flock of Welsh Harlequins and they are almost a year old now. Should I just be patient, or do I need to get them water to mate it?

No ducks do not need a pool to mate l lived with that thought of reality for quite sometime till one day l separated my pecans in the garden (which has lots and lots of hiding places) there was no pool nothing but there drinking water one day one disappeared l thought she had got out some how and then got eaten l don't know. Well about a month later l went out to take care of the pecans there she was with babies after that l really looked into and no they do not need a pool to mate.

Thanks for that. I read a lot about ducks and I figured if it made much difference, it would be highlighted in the articles about ducks, much like the common statements that ducks need to be able to submerge their heads in water to keep clean.
