A Few Frizzle Questions...

Hi BYCers,

so tomorrow my family and i are heading down to stockton for a poultry show. We will also be getting more chickens so we are looking at some good breeds. While searching the internet I found some pictures of chickens called Frizzles. However, when looking for the breed in a few books we have lying around, i only found a genetic trait of Frizzle. So, is Frizzle a breed or a genetic trait?

Frizzle refers to the feathering (gene). I have two frizzled Cochin bantams. But, other bird breeds can be frizzled. Here is a picture of my splach frizzled Cochin hen:

In the US, frizzle is just a feather condition, in UK, Aust and NZ, they are a separate breed.
