Thank you SO MUCH for the nice comments about our wonderful community and for the great discussion and ideas!
Please see our FAQ's item here: How Can I Turn Off Advertising / Advertisements On The Site? I saw some inappropriate ads, what should I do?
We'll add this to our list of suggestions!
Please see how to change your alert settings here:
How to receive ALERTS or stop receiving alerts
As mentioned above, this should be an option already. Also keep in mind that someone that wants to add another person to a conversation could just as easily copy/past the whole conversation to someone else, so the difference between adding someone and showing them everything you said, is relatively negligible.
Running BYC is very expensive. We'd really hope that people that use our services for FREE would be willing to either view ads or purchase / win / earn a Premium Feather Membership (PFM) which turns ads off for $0.16 a day. Many website owners feel like adblocking is akin to stealing, and most feel like it's at least unethical.
You could tell the people you message with not to add others without your permission.I'm so happy to be participating here, and there's no other place online that I'd rather be.
As for the ads, what if minors see what is showing up? Kids might not be as wise as an adult and just turn off the ad... That's why I think they should be kid friendly.
And I suppose people can copy/screenshot info in a PM. I guess it's a gamble on who you can trust. But someone may not realize that that the other person shared something personal (such as name and age) and think that they're just turning it into a chat thread or whatever...
Very true. You could tell the people you message with not to add others without your permission.
If you don't trust them, then don't say anything too private. Even if you do trust them, explain the how much the privacy of your conversations means to you.Very true.I guess it just depends if you trust that person...
Exactly. I'll do that.If you don't trust them, then don't say anything too private. Even if you do trust them, explain the how much the privacy of your conversations means to you.
And then live by that. And what I mean is *never* do screenshots, or share details from any of your conversations, even if you have a falling out with that person.Exactly. I'll do that.![]()
Yes, I agree. And then live by that. And what I mean is *never* do screenshots, or share details from any of your conversations, even if you have a falling out with that person.
